Sacred And Secular Song In ‘A Capella’ Concert
Ards is the venue for an evening of scared and secular song next week (13th November) when chamber choir, Cantiunculae, take to the stage.
Cantiunculae, an 11 piece chamber choir formed in 1989, has been performing regularly in concert venues across Northern Ireland and beyond, and comes to the Arts Centre in Newtownards for the annual Anne Iveston Musical Evening – established by Ards Arts Committee to mark her long years of dedicated service to the arts locally.
The choir, whose name is Latin for ‘flattering or alluring strains’, will bring a blend of mixed voices for a choral musical experience spanning five centuries of song – and event not to be missed, according to Arts Officer with Ards Borough Council:
“Any choir which can sing ‘a capella’ for the majority of its concert has to be immensely talented and there is no doubt that Cantiunculae are superb and promise a wonderful performance,” said Ms Walsh. “We’re particularly delighted that such a well-respected and sought-after choral group are this year’s tribute to Anne Iveston”.
Cantiunculae perform in Ards Arts Centre, Conway Square, Newtownards, on Friday 13th November at 8pm. Tickets priced £10 (£8 concession), including a glass of wine/orange juice are available from Ards Arts Centre, Tel: 028 9181 0803.
